MAIN STREET BUSINESS ALLIANCE WORKING FOR YOU
Here are just a few things the Alliance has done this month and continues to do for the district and your business:
- Camden Street: In accordance with recommendations by traffic experts hired by the Upper Main Alliance, Camden Street now runs in both directions from River Street to Main Street. Now, visitors have easy access to the district from the most highly-traveled corridor in Hackensack. We thank the City of Hackensack for its help and cooperation in getting this important task completed. Directional signs will soon be installed on River Street pointing visitors to our stores.
- Street Maintenance: The Upper Main Alliance continues to fund regular maintenance and cleaning of the districts streets and alleyways. Many will notice new trees and plantings in the area near the bus transfer station. In addition new flowers and shrubs were placed throughout the district and they are watered regularly.
- Newspaper Advertising: The Upper Main Alliance has taken out ads for the district in both
The County Seat and The Chronicle which will appear until the end of the year. These ads will provide the district and its members with good exposure in Hackensack and surrounding towns.
- Street Festival: We are well underway in the planning of this year’s Street Festival which will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2009. To learn more or to participate, please contact Albert Dib or Lori Houri at 201-498-1690 or visit

for more information.
- Way Finding: In partnership with the City of Hackensack, Bergen County and
HUMC, a city-wide way finding project is now out to bid. The contract will soon be awarded and we expect all signs to be installed by the end of the year. When complete, visitors from all over the city will know how to get to the district. Importantly, the Alliance’s portion of this project will be funded entirely with grant money and a 0% interest loan.
- Farmer’s Market: The Farmer’s Market is currently ongoing until late October, every Wednesday from 11am to 6pm at Johnson Park. The market offers a variety of fresh fruits vegetables, baked goods and more. The Alliance is sponsoring this increasingly popular program.
- Flag poles: Look for new flags hung in front of Wachovia and the former Bank of America Building on Main Street. These brightly colored flags bring color, vibrancy and cheer. We thank the building owners for their cooperation.
