MAIN
STREET BUSINESS ALLIANCE WORKING FOR YOU
This
e-mail blast program has been established to
reach out to over 550 of our members and
contacts. This monthly e-mail blast takes the
opportunity to inform you of the Alliance’s
accomplishments and goals.
- The
Hackensack Upper Main Alliance welcomes
Limon Fine Food. This is a gourmet
market place located at 121 Main Street,
Hackensack, NJ, offering daily hot and
cold buffets, sushi, deli, fresh baked
goods and brick oven pizza. Limon Fine
Food offers seating, take out, and
catering services. Be sure to pay Limon
Fine Food a visit and welcome them as one
of our newest members.
- Hackensack
is “Going Green”. The City of
Hackensack has partnered with an
advertising firm to place 30 new
recyclable dispensers at strategic
locations throughout the City. These
recyclable dispensers will be paid for
through local advertising and help to
assist us in keeping our business
community clean.
- The
Alliance is looking forward to 2009 and is
currently working to create a vision plan.
A special committee has been formed to
interview Board members for their
feedback. The Alliance is presently
working on an RFP to circulate to
companies for their assistance in the
creation of this vision plan. This vision
plan will ultimately lay out the
Alliance’s goals for the next several
years regarding marketing, streetscape and
planning.
- The
Alliance will reach out to the City of
Hackensack to form a committee to research
a possible suitable location, within our
district, for the Cultural Art Center.
The Alliance will request that the City
look into researching criteria for such a
location which would be beneficial to
creating additional night life within the
district.
- Hackensack
Celebrates the Holidays. The
Hackensack Upper Main Alliance, the City
of Hackensack, and the Hackensack Chamber
of Commerce have joined forces to create a
dynamic schedule of events for this
year’s holiday season. The
celebration starts with the annual tree
lighting ceremony scheduled for Friday,
December 5th at the Courthouse Green
between 6:00 and 7:30 P.M. This
year’s holiday festivities will include
a holiday character review featuring
Frosty The Snowman, Cat In The Hat, The
Grinch and Penquin/Happy Feet. There will
be Victorian Carolers performing
throughout the evening and a welcome
station with Elves handing out pretzels,
popcorn, cookies and hot chocolate. After
greetings from the Mayor and Council, and
following the lighting of the holiday
tree, Santa will arrive on an open fire
truck compliments of the Hackensack Fire
Department. Santa will be seated on the
main stage handing out free gifts to
children under twelve.
- It
is in Boston, it is in Chicago, it is in
New York and now it is coming to
Hackensack. The Hackensack Upper Main
Alliance is proud to introduce the first
Restaurant Week December 5th through
December 12th. Ride the free trolley
following the tree lighting ceremony
between 7:30 and 10:00 P.M. The
following restaurants will be offering
prix fix dinner specials, including
appetizer, entrée and dessert: Mango’s
of NJ and the East Chinese Restaurant. You
can also choose the following restaurants
and buy one entrée while receiving the
second entrée at half price: Java’s
Brewin, Potrero Grill, Veggie Express,
Tandoori Chef, Bohemia Restaurant,
Wondee’s and Mark’s Prizzeria &
Restaurant. Free parking is being offered
at the Justice Parking Lot at the corner
of River and Court Street, or the Atlantic
Street Parking Garage. Bring the entire
family and enjoy as Hackensack celebrates
the holidays.
- The
Marketing Committee has been working on
revamping the current website: www.uppermain.org
to include municipal links, business
spotlights, a real estate page listing
available properties within our district
and a restaurant guide showcasing all of
our restaurants and their ethnic
diversity. In addition an interactive
mapping for the City/Parking will be
established to assist our visitors in and
around the City’s business district.
- The
Alliance has formed a partnership with the
County of Bergen, the City of Hackensack,
and the Hackensack University Medical
Center to develop a comprehensive signage
system that facilitates way finding
throughout the central business district
and the City. This way finding signage
system will address the needs of visitors
and locals using all modes of
transportation, while directing them to
the central business district, its parking
lots, City landmarks, historical sites,
the County Courthouse, Administration
buildings, and the Hackensack University
Medical Center. The program symbolizes a
welcoming and well managed township. A
kickoff meeting was held on November 14th
and the Steering Committee is well on its
way to moving this program to reality. The
anticipated date for completion is the
Fall of 2009.
